CITY PLAYBOOKS FOR THE EQUITABLE ELECTRIFICATION OF MULTIFAMILY BUILDINGS

The City Playbooks for the Equitable Electrification of Multifamily Buildings provide details on electrification upgrades and technologies for multifamily buildings, resources for building decision-makers, and recommendations for policymakers to inform future programs and policies. 

 
 

Playbook 1: Multifamily Electrification Background and Recommendations

The first Playbook, Multifamily Electrification Background and Recommendations, provides an overview of the project and key recommendations for local governments to advance equitable electrification in multifamily buildings.

Playbook 2: Multifamily Electrification Retrofits and Considerations

The second Playbook, Multifamily Electrification Retrofits and Considerations, includes resources to educate policymakers on equipment upgrades and technical considerations to achieve an all-electric multifamily buildings.

Playbook 3: Multifamily Guidance for Building Decision-Makers

The third Playbook, Multifamily Guidance for Building Decision-Makers, includes resources to educate multifamily building decision-makers—including owners, managers, operators, and third-party consultants—on the process of electrifying a multifamily building. This Playbook also includes recommendations for local governments when working with these building decision-makers.

 
 

The City Playbooks for the Equitable Electrification of Multifamily Buildings were developed collaboratively with sustainability staff from the cities of Boston, MA; Somerville, MA; and New York, NY, with input from Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), New York City Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and Emerald Cities Collaborative. The project was funded thanks to support from the Urban Sustainability Directors Network.
